Overview

Studio Miyabi is seeking a contract-based Design Assistant to support our growing portfolio of branding, packaging, and web design projects. This role is ideal for a designer who values precision, aesthetics, and collaboration—someone eager to contribute to thoughtful, elevated brand work that balances creativity with strategy.

 

You’ll work closely with the studio founder, assisting across client projects and internal studio initiatives, helping translate creative direction into refined, cohesive design outcomes.

 

Responsibilities

• Assist on branding projects on a project-by-project basis

• Support with general design tasks including branding, packaging, and website design

• Conduct visual and informational research to support design development

• Design and schedule graphics for the studio’s social media platforms

• Assist with general studio administration such as scheduling, client communication, and internal documentation updates

• Attend catch-ups with the founder and maintain consistent communication via email

Skills & Qualifications

• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite—specifically Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop

• Experience with Figma or Adobe XD

• Background in graphic design, branding, or website design (bonus if experienced in all three)

• Familiarity with website builders including Wix Studio, Squarespace, or Shopify (coding not required, but understanding CSS is a plus)

• Strong understanding of design principles and ability to apply them effectively

• Excellent attention to detail and a refined design sensibility

• Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines

• Clear communicator who takes direction well and seeks feedback proactively

• Understanding of task and project management processes

• Previous experience in a design studio or another creative field is a bonus

You’re thoughtful, self-motivated, and genuinely passionate about design. You approach projects with curiosity and care, balancing creativity with structure.

 

Ideally based in the US (PST time zone preferred), but open to global candidates who can overlap with our working hours. You thrive in remote collaboration, take initiative, and enjoy working with small business owners who value design deeply.

A genuine interest in premium products and businesses and an understanding of how brands in this space communicate verbally and visually is essential, as many of our clients operate within high-end lifestyle, beauty, and fashion sectors.

Contract Details

• Type: Contract 

• Time Commitment: 15–20 hours per month (subject to project load with opportunity for increased hours)

• Location: Remote (US preferred; bonus if you're based in California!)

• Duration: Ongoing, project-based

• Compensation: Fair and competitive—please include your hourly rate when applying
